Jacqueline Mary Amatucci, nee Walsh, 86, died peacefully at home surrounded by the love of her family on May 6, 2024.
Born in Brooklyn, NY to the late John and Ellen Walsh, she moved to New Jersey and attended St. Joseph’s School in Raritan before graduating from Somerville High School. Jackie went on to attend St. Peter’s School of Nursing, New Brunswick, NJ, where she became a Registered Nurse. She met the love of her life, Ralph Amatucci, on a trolley toward Coney Island and the two were married and settled in Bridgewater where they raised their family.
Mrs. Amatucci worked for over thirty years at the former Somerset Medical Center in Somerville in the Recovery Room. Providing comfort and expert care to countless people after surgery, she was a natural caregiver. Her care was felt at home with her family every day, and she was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. In September 1995 she retired from Somerset Medical Center to be promoted to her greatest role yet, Grandma. She found joy in spending quality time with her grandchildren and was their biggest fan. Jackie enjoyed sports, originally following the Brooklyn Dodgers and later the New York Yankees. She also followed New York Giants football and Seton Hall basketball. She shared her love of sports with her grandchildren and was always there to cheer them on during their own sporting events. The Amatucci Family enjoyed trips to the Jersey Shore, specifically Wildwood Crest, where they made memories that would last a lifetime.
She was a devout Catholic and parishioner of The Church of the Immaculate Conception.
She was preceded in death just last year by her beloved husband Ralph Amatucci and her dear siblings Ellen Walsh Russo and Phyllis Jane Bloodgood.
Surviving are her loving children, Elizabeth Amatucci Gleason and husband Terence Gleason; Jane Amatucci Brunn and husband Dr. James Brunn; her adored grandchildren, James Brunn and wife Sarah, and Ann Brunn and boyfriend Clayton; and her protector and grand-dog Rosie; as well as her nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
